Name: Ross Muir

Ross Muir embarked on a career in magazine and newspaper journalism following education at Dunfermline High School and the North of Scotland College of Agriculture (Aberdeen University) including spells on The Scotsman, Press & Journal and with a free-lance agency in Fleet Street.

He moved into radio and television, researching, producing and presenting with BBC Scotland, Scottish Television and Grampian TV. For 25 years he was front man of the award-winning television programme Landward with filming assignments all over the UK and Europe plus Russia, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. The BBC Scotland documentary “Taim Bilong Hangri” on PNG rural life, which he scripted and presented, won the One World Broadcasting Trust’s award for Regional Television. In 1990, Ross was short-listed for the Royal Television Society’s Reith Award.

His broadcasting activity was on a free-lance basis. In the 1970s he established his own pr consultancy which over the years has handled corporate, business and product p.r. and marketing for a wide range of leading companies and organisations, including Scotland’s largest outdoor event the Royal Highland Show. He has been retained by the show for almost 20 years and has been instrumental in its expansion.

With such diverse experience in written and broadcast media and public relations, Ross is quick to identify p.r. opportunities (and potential pitfalls) and has built a reputation for effective results. He now works in association with Judith O’Leary, a multi-talented partnership that delivers for clients on all levels.

Married with three sons, he lives in Fife and when time permits enjoys golf, curling and watching Dunfermline Rugby Club’s first XV.
